A number of schools and amenities across Leitrim have closed as Storm Bram begins to sweep over the country.
Met Éireann has upgraded the entire country to a Status Orange wind warning, with the storm expected to bring very strong to gale-force southerly winds and severe gusts.
Schools in Leitrim that have closed due to the storm include Drumlease NS, Dromahair; Four Masters NS, Kinlough; Carrigallen Vocational School; Drumshanbo Vocational School; Carrick-on-Shannon Community School; Ballinamore Community School; and Mohill Community College.
Due to the Orange wind warning and in the interest of public safety, Leitrim County Council has also closed the Access to the Sea amenity in Tullaghan.

The Council has shared safety advice and guidance for the duration of the storm. These include: anticipating strong crosswinds and other hazards such as falling or fallen trees while driving; event and activity organisers considering the wind warnings and monitoring local conditions; ensuring your mobile phone is fully charged; checking in on neighbours, older people or anyone who may need assistance if conditions worsen; and staying away from swollen rivers, streams and flooded riverbanks.
People are also advised that electricity and water outages may occur. The ESB warns the public not to interact with fallen live wires and to stay well clear of them.
