EV chargers in Leitrim sought at meeting
All towns and villages in Leitrim will be considered for EV charging points, based on "neighbourhood charging needs, destination charging needs, site suitability, funding implications and power grid capacity capacity", a meeting heard this week.
Cllr Maeve Reynolds had asked that the council install a public EV charging point in Dromod to support residents, visitors, local businesses and tourism with the response stating that EV charging strategy for Leitrim in in the early stages of development as a region with both Cavan and Monaghan County Councils.

Cllr Reynolds welcomed the response and said that before stressing that she felt Dromod would be "an ideal location for an EV charger due to it's growing population, tourist houses, strong local businesses and community. Providing accessible charging infrastructure would support residents and businesses and future-proof the village and strengthen the commitment to sustainable transport."
Cllr Enda McGloin supported the motion saying that people are being encouraged to "go electric".
