Sandbags have been used to protect houses from flooding.

"By fixing one problem it created another," A Leitrim councillor said when he called on the council to investigate and fix the drainage system at grange on the R280 saying "it is causing serious flooding issues in lough Bran estate across the road from Drino warehouse."

He was advised that the district office has previously invested in the drainage at the R280/R299 junction. "We are seeking further funding to allow a possible road crossing at this junction which will alleviate the R280 seasonal flooding issue by diverting the excessive storm water directly into Lough Bran."
