Dry weather continues across Leitrim with bright spells promised

The weather will continue to be dry and overcast with bright spells breaking through later in the day

Another dry day across Leitrim today, with a cloudy start giving way to brighter weather later as the day goes on.

Despite the dry weather, it will be cold, with temperatures between 5 degrees and 0 degrees during the day, with freezing temperatures arriving tonight.

The dry, cloudy weather will be shared across Connacht, with highest temperatures across the province of 5 to 7 degrees with light northeast breezes. Again, across the province, it will be a cold and dry night with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of -4 to +1 degrees, with frost and ice developing on untreated surfaces. Light variable breezes or near calm conditions will allow some fog or freezing fog to develop.

Nationally today, it will be cloudy for a time, and while many areas will hold dry, there will be a little light rain and drizzle, mainly in the east and south. Some bright or sunny spells will develop through the afternoon, the best of these further north. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in a mostly light east to northeast breeze, moderate at times in the south and east.

Meanwhile, it will be cold and dry tonight with a mix of cloud and clear spells, coldest and clearest in the north and northwest. Lowest temperatures of -4 to +1 degrees generally, with frost and ice developing on untreated surfaces. Light variable breezes or near calm conditions will allow some fog or freezing fog to develop. Cloudier conditions in the south and east will keep temperatures slightly higher and may bring a little drizzle.
