Leitrim community remember ‘beloved Mum’ and ‘beautiful woman’

The death has occurred of Margaret (Peggy) McGirl (née Creamer), who passed away on Tuesday, the 30th of December.

Paggy, of Derrygoan (Drumreilly), Ballinamore, formerly Kiltyhugh, Ballinamore, passed away peacefully in Ballinamore Community Nursing Unit, surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy is survived by her husband John, her daughters Marian and Karen, as well as her brothers Patsy and Christy and her sisters Kay, Maureen and Geraldine (Gretta), a large extended family, neighbours and many friends. She is predeceased by her parents John Joe and Alice.

One message of condolence said: “Sincere sympathy to John, Marion and Karen and extended families on the very sad passing of your beloved Mum. The most beautiful woman who now will fly high with the angels. God rest her soul.”

She will repose at Smith’s Funeral Home on the High Street of Ballinamore this Thursday evening, January 1st, from 6pm until 8pm.

Removal will take place on Friday morning, January 2nd, to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Drumlea, for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The family has asked for the house to remain private, with family flowers only, and donations, if desired, should be directed to the Patient Comfort Fund of Ballinamore Community Nursing Unit, care of Smith’s Funeral Directors or any family member.
