Refurbished old station house in Mohill
Mohill Town Team and Mohill Station House Working Group have been working hard on progressing exciting plans for the refurbishment of The Old Mohill Station House.
A statement to the Leitrim Observer said: "The Town Team is a dynamic umbrella organization which includes representatives from a broad range of community, sport and business groups, local councillors and council officials all of whom have a shared objective of making the town a better place for everyone to live, work and grow older in."
The old Station House which closed in 1959 has been one of the key flagship projects for the Town Team working in partnership with Leitrim County Council.

In 2025 Mohill saw a number of important projects being successfully completed including the public realm works for the town, the painting grant scheme for businesses and households living in the town centre, a major upgrade to the Philly McGuinness GAA park and the ongoing work being done by Mohill Tidy Towns, Mohill Historical Society, the Family Resource Centre and the Enterprise Centre. Mohill is also the first Age Friendly Town in Leitrim and progress has been made in the past year on making the town more Age Friendly and Dementia Inclusive.

Exciting plans are also in place for 2026 with work commencing by Leitrim County Council in partnership with the Town Team on developing a masterplan for the town, the completion of a new digital Story Map highlighting Mohill’s rich history and heritage and of course the long awaited reopening of Mohill Station House.
"Our most famous writer John McGahern once described Mohill as his town and famously said 'in it's plain way, I think it is beautiful'. I think he would be very impressed by some of the positive changes that have been taking place in his town in recent times," the statement said.
However in order to be able to complete the refurbishment of the Station House the Chair of the Mohill Town Team, Mary Reynolds speaking to the Observer said “we are very grateful for all the support we have received from the local community so far but as we approach the finish line we are still heavily reliant on your continued generosity to get the project completed.
