Planning permission granted for campsite and recreational facilities in North Leitrim village

Conditional planning permission has been granted by Leitrim County Council to Kiltyclogher Community Council for a range of new developments in the village.

In November, Kiltyclogher Community Council submitted an application to construct a campsite featuring five serviced caravan/campervan pitches and five tent pitches, along with a single-storey campsite amenity building at Kiltyclogher Community Centre.

Additionally, the plan sought to provide new leisure features, including a sauna, a fire-pit seating area, and other recreational amenities.

The application further proposed to widen and improve the existing vehicular and pedestrian site entrance and to connect the site to the existing public foul sewer mains, along with all associated ancillary works.

Planning permission was granted on January 15, subject to 12 conditions.

One condition limits the development to a maximum of five tents and five caravans at any one time, unless separate planning permission is obtained to increase this number.

Another condition specifies that the two proposed tourist ancillary structures on the site shall not be used for self-catering, short-term or long-term lets, holiday home use, or human habitation unless separate planning permission for such use is obtained.

The developer is also required to ensure that the development conforms to the principles of universal design and considers the needs of persons with mobility, sensory, or intellectual impairments, in accordance with the guidance contained in Building for Everyone, published by the National Disability Authority.
