Leitrim County Council have proposed to temporarily close the local road L8286 in Seltan, Drumkeeran to facilitate the Connacht Motor Club’s Yates Ridge Forestry Rally on February 15.

Temporary road closure proposed in North Leitrim for forestry rally

Leitrim County Council has proposed a temporary road closure in North Leitrim on Sunday, February 15.

The local road L8286 in Seltan, Drumkeeran will be closed for the day to facilitate the Connacht Motor Club’s Yates Ridge Forestry Rally in Drumkeeran.

The Council is proposing that the road closure be in effect from 8am until 6pm on February 15.

The Connacht Motor Club is hosting the opening round of the 2026 Irish Forest Rally Championship, where a relatively compact loop, run twice, will accumulate a total of 55km of competitive stages, straddling woodland in both Sligo and Leitrim.

In a statement, Leitrim County Council wrote: “In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, and for the purpose of facilitating the Connacht Motor Club with the Yates Ridge Forestry Rally in Drumkeeran. Notice is hereby given that Leitrim County Council proposes to make a decision to close the following public road.”

The Council also noted that anyone aggrieved by this proposal to close the road may lodge an objection with the Director of Services for Economic Development, Regeneration, Sustainable Transport and Emergency Services, Leitrim County Council, Áras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon, on or before 4pm on Monday, January 26.
