New service in Leitrim pharmacies will 'improve access to affordable, fast, and community-based healthcare'

The new service will allow allowing patients to receive patients to be treated closer to home

Leitrim councillor James Gilmartin has welcomed the strong nationwide uptake of the new Common Conditions Service (CCS), with over 1,800 community pharmacies representing 94% of all pharmacies in Ireland now signed up to deliver the service.
Available through participating pharmacies across the country, the Common Conditions Service will significantly improve access to affordable, fast, and community-based healthcare, allowing patients to receive treatment closer to home.
Cllr Gilmartin said the service represents a major step forward in strengthening frontline healthcare and easing pressure on GP services.
“The fact that 94% of community pharmacies have signed up shows just how committed pharmacists are to supporting patients and expanding access to care,” he said. “This service will make a real difference for individuals and families by providing timely advice and treatment for common conditions in a trusted local setting.”
The Common Conditions Service is a confidential, fee-based consultation service delivered by trained pharmacists. It is designed to make it easier and quicker for members of the public to access advice and treatment for eight common minor health conditions including shingles, UTIs, conjunctivitis, and allergic rhinitis.
Members of the public can find details of their nearest participating pharmacy through the Pharmacy Finder Tool, and further information on the service is available at gov.ie/CommonConditionsService.
