Cllr Caillian Ellis has welcomed the news that initial works have begun on the listed former Ballinamore Courthouse building.
Works completed to date have included the removal of ivy from the building.
A spokesperson for Leitrim County Council has also confirmed that the Court Service has recently advised that costing for the works on the roof of the structure are being prepared.
Once the final estimate for works has been prepared the Court Service will be in contact with the Council regarding the works.
Cllr Ellis stressed the importance of securing this historic building for future generations and urged the Court Service to complete works as a priority.
