Last week, as part of engineering week, Ireland’s electricity grid operator and developer met with students at Carrick-On-Shannon Community School.
Engineers Week is an annual nationwide campaign that runs from the 28th of February until the 6th of March to introduce primary and secondary school children to the world of engineering.
The visiting engineers delivered a workshop on how engineering is a part of our everyday lives, the importance of renewable energy and the role of the electricity grid.
The visits aim to inspire the students’ interest in STEM subjects and future careers in engineering.
Transition Year students recently took part in a workshop with the team from EirGrid as part of STEPS Engineers Week.
