The Minister for Education, Ruairi Quinn TD has announced a grant allocation of for a 4 room extension to St Clare’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton.
Tony McLoughlin TD has warmly welcomed the news which was announced by the Minister this morning.
The new extension will provide an extra 3 classrooms and a resource room for the school. The School’s numbers has increased in recent times to over 500 pupils. The building capacity at the school is 350 so this extension will cater for the increase in pupil numbers over the recent years.
The announcement has been welcomed by St Clare’s Vice Principal, Ms Ceola Mc Gowan and the Principal Mr John Irwin. Ms Mc Gowan thanked local public representatives for their work particularly Deputy McLoughlin who had lobbied effectively for this funding.
“This announcement provides a vote of confidence by the department where the ever increasing numbers are a reflection on the progressive and positive education available to students at St Clare’s Comprehensive School” stated Deputy McLoughlin.
Deputy McLoughlin thanked the Minister and his officials for their commitment on the School extension and expressed his satisfaction that this will go a long way to cater for the future needs for secondary education in the greater Manorhamilton and North Leitrim catchment area.
