Gardai are investigating the brazen theft of a digger from a building site in Rooskey, last week.
Thieves stole the digger from the site some time between 4.30pm and 5pm on July 12.
The digger weighs in at over 13 tones and gardai say that a truck and specialised trailer would have to be used to move it as it is on tracks.
Gardai are now appealing for anyone who may have been in the Rooskey area last Thursday and may have noticed men loading a digger on to a trailer, to contact them at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station on (071) 9620021.
Gardai say that the incidents of theft of machinery and tools continues to be a major problem not just in Co Leitrim, but throughout the region.
Owners of equipment should ensure that their tools are locked away in secured sheds and, if possible, tracking devices should be installed in diggers to enable fast recovery of stolen vehicles.
