Gardai are asking Leitrim drivers to stay alert, slow down and refrain from drink driving this Bank Holiday Weekend
Road traffic checkpoints will be in place around the county this Bank Holiday weekend, as the Gardai prepare for one of the busiest driving weekends of the year.
Speaking to the Leitrim Observer this week a spokesperson from the local road traffic division said they are happy to report “no fatal road traffic collisions in Leitrim so far this year.” The Gardai wish to “thank the people of Leitrim for their attitude towards driving, as it goes a long way to the current road statistics.”
To keep the county’s road deaths at zero, Gardai are asking drivers to stay cautious, keep a good distance between cars, slow down, wear a seat belt, don’t use handheld mobile phones while driving and refrain from drink driving or driving under the influence of drugs.
