Lough Allen College, Drumkeerin was inspected on tuesday, February 26 by the Department of Education in relation to emergency works needed.
Acting CEO of Leitrim VEC Martin Fallon informed the members of Leitrim VEC that renovation works are necessary at Lough Allen College “on foot of the Fire Officer’s report.”
The VEC applied to the Department of Education for the “emergency works scheme,” funding but they were turned down. They appealed that decision and also sought a meeting with department officials.
The Department of Education arranged for Inspector Kevin Kennedy to visit Lough Allen College, yesterday, Tuesday February 26 to assess the situation and report back.
The VEC and the school await the outcome of the report to find out if they will get the necessary funding for the works.
