Fine Gael has announced its campaign team for the referendum on the abolition of the Upper House.

It is expected that the referendum will be held in October and the Government party will spend between €150,000 and €200,000 on the campaign.

Announcing the campaign Richard Bruton TD said abolishing the Seanad would save the country €100 million over a five-year Dáil term, he called the Seanad a “luxury.”
