The community of Mohill and indeed the wider community of Co Leitrim was plunged into deep shock with the news that Teresa O’Reilly had passed away last Friday.
Our Mohill Correspondent for many years, Teresa was a delight to work with. So very proud of her town, her notes were prescribed reading. Teresa’s human touch in reporting on deaths and other events taking place in Mohill will be sorely missed.
We in the Observer will miss her calls, her happy voice which always ended with a “God Bless.” And a postcard from Lourdes arrived into the office every time she went on pilgrimage there.
Indeed, she had only just returned from her annual pilgrimage there two days before she passed away.
A lady of deep faith, she was an active member of the Legion of Mary and Mohill Bridge Club.
Teresa took great pride in promoting Mohill at every opportunity she could and the people of Mohill are very grateful for her unrelenting positive interest in their community at all times.
Teresa’s remains reposed at her residence in Upper Main Street on Friday evening and on Saturday with removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Mohill. Funeral mass was celebrated on Sunday morning at half past ten with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.
Her passing is felt by all in Mohill and the surrounding areas, but is most especially felt by her husband Tony, son Gerard and daughter Martina and all her family circle whom Teresa dearly loved and to whom we extend our deepest sympathy on their great loss. May Teresa’s gentle soul rest in peace.
