Making Leitrim an Age Friendly County

The County Leitrim’s Older Peoples Council has been established to articulate the needs of older people.

There are 24 members on the Council, made up of older people drawn from the existing network of Active Aged organisations and including representatives of service providers in the county.

The Council is a central structure supporting the work of County Leitrim Age Friendly Alliance. The aim of the Council is to inform the work of the Alliance and carry out tasks as part of the implementation of an Age Friendly strategy, which is being developed for the county.

The aim of the Leitrim Age Friendly County Initiative is to ensure that all agencies work together to make Co Leitrim a great place to grow old in.

Next week is Positive Aging week & two exhibitions showcasing the work of local active age groups will run in Manorhamilton and Ballinamore Libraries from October 1 (UN International Day of Older People) to October 3.

They will be officially opened at 11am in Ballinamore and 3.30pm in Manorhamilton.
