Glorious weather drew a huge crowd to take part in the annual commemoration which this year took place in Jamestown cemetery on Easter Sunday.
The “Four Green Fields” flute band provided the music as the commemoration made its way from Drumsna towards Jamestown. An estimated 300 people made the short trek between the two villages with many more deciding to wait in Jamestown.
Padraig MacLochlainn, Sinn Féin TD for North East Donegal made an emotive speech which echoed the sentiments of the 1916 Proclamation which Séadhna Logan had just recited with great passion. Fred Gill laid a wreath on behalf of the Gill family on the grave of his uncle Patrick Gill.
The Republican movement, represented by Brendan Barry and Carrick Sinn Féin, represented by Mari Hetherington-Walsh also laid wreaths. Gerry Gilroy Snr, on behalf of the Gilroy family laid a wreath on the grave of his father Tommy Gilroy.
