Carrick-on-Shannon Gardai have said the sightings of a child predator in Co Leitrim this week are “unconfirmed.”

Frenchman Philippe Gandus, who was convicted of trying to abduct a three-year-old child, arrived in Dublin with a suitcase of full of toys last week.

Gardai said they have been informed of a number of sightings in Leitrim Village and Carrick-on-Shannon early this week, but the sightings remain unconfirmed by Gardai.

Nationally, Gardaí fear that the Frenchman, who is on the sex offenders’ list in the UK, still poses a risk to children, and have warned parents to be on the lookout for him.
