Met Éireann have issued three weather warnings for Co Leitrim this evening (Wednesday, January 14).
A Status Red wind warning has been issued for exposed coastal and mountain areas of Leitrim, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick and Kerry with gusts of between 130km/h and 150km/h possible.
The weather warning is in place from 9pm this evening to midday on Thursday, January 15.
A Status Orange wind warning has also been issued with winds expected to reach speeds between 90 km/h and up to 130 km/h for all areas of the country. The risk will be highest in exposed areas with winds expected between 9pm tonight and 3pm tomorrow (Thursday).
Finally a Status Yellow rainfall warning is also in place for Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick with rainfall between 23 to 25mm expected between 3pm today (Wednesday) and 6pm on Thursday.
Gardai are urging motorists to slow down during the wet and windy conditions and only make essential journeys.
People are also urged to ensure that anything which could be blown over i.e. trampolines, wheelie bins, dog houses etc are properly secured.
