The number of babies born to mothers resident in Leitrim in still declining according to new Central Statistic Office(CSO) figures.
403 babies were born to Leitrim mothers in 2014, which is a decrease on the figure of 458 in 2013. 211 of the babies were boys with 192 being girls.
The majority of mothers were married or in a civil partnership.
The most popular boys name in the county last year was Connor, while Aoife, Sophia and Caoimhe were the tops picks for girls.
In 2014, 240 Leitrim residents died, the most common cause of death was disease of the circulatory system, followed by malignant neoplasms (tumours). There were three deaths by suicide in the county last year as well as one infant and one neonatal mortality.
