A house near the town of Mohill was ‘cleaned out’ by thieves in the latest burglary to hit the area.
The thieves forced their way into the unoccupied rural property via a patio door some time between 9am and 6pm yesterday (Wednesday, July 20).
They ransacked the house making off with a number of household items.
Gardai are appealing for anyone in the Mohill area who may have noticed anything suspicious to get in contact with them. They are also renewing calls for people to report anything unusual in their locality immediately to their local gardai.
A spokesperson for local gardai said reporting anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to gardai, may prove vital in apprehending the culprits of these crimes. Whether you notice a strange car in the area or see people approaching a property you know is unoccupied, take all relevant details and report this immediately to gardai.
If you are going away on holidays ensure you let family and neighbours know so that they can keep an eye on your property for you and also inform the local gardai so they are aware the house is unoccupied.
Gardai are also appealing for council road workers, Eircom employees, postmen and others who are regularly on the roads around the county, to be especially vigilant and to report anything unusual.
Contact local gardai on (071) 9650510.
