The Poet Higgins Society is requesting entrants for the annual adult poetry competition which is part of the Poet Higgins Project.
The poem must be a minimum of 20 lines to a maximum of 160 lines. Organisers are encouraging the use of the recitation style of rhyme and expressive story-telling in the poem, in keeping with the tradition of the Poet Higgins.
The poems can be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to, Eileen Byrne, The Poet Higgins Society, Cloncoose, Mohill, Co Leitrim, with the authors name, address and phone number clearly stated.
The closing date for entrants will be Friday the 1st of June 2012.
There will be a special night organised where prizes will be awarded for the winners. So get out your pen and start writing.
Schools in the area are also being contacted regarding the children’s poetry competition which is open to 4th 5th and 6th class.
