Are you or your spouse in receipt of a social welfare payment or signing for credits for 6 months or more? Are you over 21 years of age? Are you looking for an opportunity to return to education and gain a qualification?
If you are answering yes to these questions then the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) may be for you. This scheme consists of a range of courses designed to meet the education and training needs of unemployed people.
If you fulfil the eligibility criteria you will be able to avail of training opportunities under this scheme and retain your current social welfare benefits and in some cases, receive some extra financial support towards travel and meals. Limited childcare support may also be available.
The four courses you can choose from in the scheme are based in Drumshanbo College of Further Education and are certified at FETAC Level 5. They are: Business IT, Sound Production, Traditional Irish Music, and a new course in Renewable Energy Systems.
All of the courses will give you a recognised qualification and will serve to improve your confidence, give you new skills, help you in returning to the workplace or provide you with a stepping stone to higher education and training.
The closing date for VTOS applications will be 13th July 2012. There is a limit on the number of places available so if you are interested in finding out more please contact Niamh or Jane on 071 9621371 or 086 7743329 or e-mail us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
