Members of Leitrim County Council passed an immediate motion to ban smoking in all playgrounds around the county.
The motion brought forward by Cllr Sinead Guckian and seconded by Cllr Tony Ferguson came from ASH Ireland and is supported by the (IMO). There was no previous policy regarding smoking in children’s playgrounds in the county. Cllr Guckian outlined the importance of playgrounds being a smoke-free zone to protect children’s health and cut down on litter.
