Additional funding has been provided under the Housing Adaptation Grants scheme bringing the new revised total, including the 20% match funding from Leitrim County Council to €287,326 in 2013.
This brings the funding available very close to the maximum expenditure threshold which the Council had originally budgeted for in 2013, €300,000.
In a letter received by local councillors, Director of Services, Mary Quinn acknowledged “there is no possibility of a general re-opening of the schemes” but said “it may be possible to consider a number of urgent, rather than emergency applications”.
“It is envisaged that such applications would generally be under the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability and the Mobility Aids Grant Schemes.”
Cllr John McCartin welcomed the additional funding and noted that a detailed update on the Scheme will be presented to Leitrim County Council, on Monday, September 2.
