Members of three faiths in Drumshanbo met last week to finalise exciting plans that will develop the St. John’s Church of Ireland into a heritage centre.

They want to create a shared space for the community and bring a programme of events to Drumshanbo. The St. John’s Heritage Centre Project is funded by the PEACE III programme.

The group has been working on development plans since their formation two years ago.

The ground floor will become an exhibition area which will house artefacts and documents that promote a shared history.

Anyone with artefacts, documents or family history that relates to WW I is invited to share this heritage with the wider community .

The inaugural exhibition and opening of St. John’s Heritage Centre takes the theme of Leitrim and Great War and will feature a series of workshops and lectures, all scheduled to take place in the weekend coinciding with Remembrance Sunday on 10th November 2013. Expect more news in the coming weeks, if you have any input for the exhibits email at stjohnsdrumshanbo@gmail.com or call any member of the group.
