FINE Gael Leader Enda Kenny opted to speak in Carrick-on-Shannon last night, Tuesday February 8 instead of a participating in the controversial leaders debate on TV3.
TV3 said it would have ''a chair waiting'' for Kenny in the hope that he would change his mind and participate in the debate chaired by Vincent Browne last night. But Kenny said the empty seat would be symbolic of those forced to emigrate.
Enda Kenny held a meeting in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday evening and will meet and greet in Manorhamilton today, Wednesday February 9. Kenny is the only party leader to stop off in Co Leitrim so far in the election campaign, other party leaders have visited the two constituencies but failed to hold any event in the county.
