There are local concerns about the health of former millionaire Sean Quinn and his wife Patricia.

Concerned Irish Citizens have told the Leitrim Observer that it has “serious concerns about the impact on the health of the family members and in particular that of Sean Quinn and his wife.”

Patricia Gilheaney, Secretary of Concerned Irish Citizens (CIC) said she has been “contacted by dozens of people who attended the recent rally who were extremely worried about the health of the couple and many noted that their faces spoke volumes and confirmed signs of trauma, exhaustion and heartbreak.”

CIC said “It has been reported that the Quinn family get just a few hours sleep nightly due to the sheer volume of work that they are forced to do to fulfil Anglo’s orders.”

According to the local lobby group, many have also made the comment “If Sean Quinn or any of his family drop dead from the sheer pressure and stress that they are being subjected to on a daily basis, there will be very serious consequences for their perpetrators and for those who facilitated this horror”.

CIC stated that they “abhor the persistent bullying and abuse of the Quinn family by Anglo Irish Bank and the refusal of the bank to work with the family.”

“Bullying can only continue if enough good people do nothing and CIC have been contacted by enough good people who are no longer prepared to tolerate unreasonable, inexcusable and unacceptable behaviour by people who are accountable to nobody and whose fat salaries, the citizens of Ireland are paying.

“CIC was formed to ensure that the citizens of Ireland who are the biggest stakeholders in this dispute, were afforded just consideration. CIC are disgusted that time and time again, the Quinn family have answered all our questions and the people who should be accountable to us are refusing to even engage with us. It is telling that the Quinn family are begging to come before a Dail Committee to answer questions about Quinn Insurance and the call of €1.65 billion from the Insurance Compensation Fund and the people who should be answering questions are running for cover.

“CIC believe that every person in the country has a right to see a copy of the advice that Matthew Elderfield relied upon to put Quinn Insurance into administration and we have good reason to believe that it does not exist. The Financial Regulator has an absolute duty to clarify the situation about the alleged cross guarantees that we feel certain he misread, before another cent of taxpayers money is squandered in this farce.”

Last week Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said,“We will not tolerate any misuse of taxpayers money”. CIC are asking Mr Gilmore why has he and his Government colleagues refused to answer how much has been recouped to date in the Anglo/ Irish Government strategy on Quinn?

They want to know how much of our money has been spend by Anglo/ Irish Government on PR, legal, travel expenses etc in this strategy and how much is expected to be spent.
