Three men arrested in connection with an investigation into a Post Office robbery in Strokestown, Co Roscommon, on March 4 have been released without charge.

The men were released this morning (March 6) and files are now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Two masked men, one believed to be armed with a firearm entered the Post Office in Strokestown on Tuesday morning last. They threatened staff and customers and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before making their escape in a silver Volvo car in the direction of Longford Town.

The vehicle later crashed on a stretch of road between Ballymahon and Lanesborough.
