As a continuation from last years very successful Winter Lecture programme a new exciting programme of Winter Lectures will take place over the coming months in Branch Libraries in Leitrim.
The purpose of the programme is to provide adults with a series of interesting lectures or talks through the winter months. All events are free, open to the public and everyone is welcome.
On Thursday 16th January 2014 at 8pm in Drumshanbo Library Sean Gilraine will give a lecture on John McKenna, well known traditional musician.
Neil Richardson will present a lecture on the 100th year anniversary of the First World War in
Carrick on Shannon Library on Wednesday 5th February 2014 at 8pm.
Local Bee Keeper Eamon Tubman and John Brennan from the Leitrim Organic Farmers will present a talk on Bees and Organic Living in Mohill Library on Wednesday 5th March 2014 at 8pm.
World War 1 was the greatest catastrophe of the 20th Century and represents the worst Irish death toll from a single event since the Great Famine. This talk presented by Margaret Connolly of Manorhamilton Historical Society looks at the human aspect of the war and its effects in our locality. It will take place in Manorhamilton Library on Friday 7th March 2014 at 8pm.
Glimpses of Garadice and surrounding areas presented by Des Quinn, Local Historian will take place in the Local Studies Department of Ballinamore Library on Tuesday 1st April 2014 at 8pm.
