Dave Rudden from Bawnboy, Co Cavan has landed a fantasy book deal that rivals J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter collection.
Rudden completed his masters in creative writing at UCD and Publishers Puffin bought the rights to his three series books soon after. The first book ‘The Borrowed Dark’ is due in Spring 2016.
The fantasy adventure trilogy is aimed at youngsters aged 11 upwards and is about Denizen Hardwick, an orphaned boy who finds himself caught up in an ancient battle.
Translation rights have also been sold to Fisher books in Germany for a six-figure euro amount and in France to the publisher Pocket Jeunesse, for what is likely to be a similar sum.
Rudden is now working on the second and third books in the fantasy series.
