On Wednesday night next, 27 May at 7.30pm a Peace Workshop hosted by the Lá Nua Project, will be held in the Standing Stone hotel in Balllinamore.
Two speakers will contribute to the workshop. Lee Lavis is a former British soldier who served in the North during the conflict and now works on peace projects and Séanna Walsh is a former republican prisoner and both will speak about their personal journeys, from the use of arms into peace building and national reconciliation. In this period of remembering the World War I and 1916 and other events from 100 years ago, the emphasis is turning to true reconciliation between the people of Britain and Ireland and those in Ireland who took different sides in the conflict.
The workshop is part of a project funded by the International Fund for Ireland and is open to the public.
