According to figures released in the Dail last week, 4,913 Leitrim residents have paid the mandatory household charge.
The data released by Minister Phil Hogan showed that neighbouring county Donegal was the most defiant with just 26.6% of their households paying the w100 levy. Cavan and Monaghan were not far behind them, giving a resounding ‘No’ to the charge from the Ulster counties. 37.6% of Leitrim householders paid the controversial charge (4,913 out of an estimated 13,069 homes) as of April 24, this includes those who paid after the March 31 deadline. Dublin homeowners were the best to cough up the tax.
On a provincal level, Connacht had the highest proportion of houses paying the charge.
