A number of business and residential premises were targeted in the Roscommon area over the past week according to Boyle Gardai.

In an unusual burglary, thieves broke into the Royal Hotel, Boyle some time between 2pm on Sunday, April 22 and 3pm on Monday, April 23 and drank a quantity of alcohol. The suspects also caused extensive damage forcing open the rear door of the recently closed hotel and kicking in a number of internal doors and setting off fire extinguishers.

Gardai are also investigating a break-in at a house in Tubberpatrick, Strokestown on Friday, April 20.

The thieves gained access through the front window of the house sometime between 9am and 11.45am, making off with a laptop and TV.

The house was unoccupied at the time.
