Olympic hero Laura Reynolds and Conal Keane from the Leitrim/West Cavan branch of Down Syndrome Ireland will open this Sunday’s 10K and 20KMarathon Walk/Runs which takes place at Breffni Family Resource Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The event has been organised in association with the Leitrim/West Cavan Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland with all funds raised being divided between both groups.
The 10K walk/run route takes in the Carrick area, leaving Breffni Centre and loops from Hartley, Cornamuckla, Keenaghan, the Dublin Road, Summerhill and back to the Breffni Centre.
Meanwhile, the 20K walk/run will take those taking part through a similar route, including the back roads of Jamestown through to Rosebank, also finishing back at the Breffni Centre. You can view the maps at www.breffnifrc.com.
Registration forms can be downloaded from the Breffni website and sponsorship cards are available at the Breffni Centre for any one wishing to fundraise. Registration fee is €10. You can also register on the day at Breffni Centre from 9am to noon.
Refreshments will be serviced after the race at the Breffni Centre. There is a great interest in both walks, so get fit now by putting in practice of at least half the course in preparation for the big event.
The organisers are looking forward to meeting you and to joining in the celebrations on this community event. Anybody who can give a hand on the day is encouraged to contact the Breffni Centre.
