An exciting array of events taking place this Christmas in Carrick-on-Shannon, including a novel Ice Rink, was unveiled by a local Christmas Committee made up of representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and community last week at their launch in the Landmark Hotel.

On Saturday, December 8, Santa Claus and his little helpers will be coming to the Market Yard at 3.30pm. This is will be a great afternoon of Music, Dance, Storytelling and Face Painting as well as the main man himself, Santa Claus!

This will be followed by the turning on of the Christmas lights by our very own 2012 Leitrim Olympian, Laura Reynolds.

On Saturday and Sunday, December 15 &16 a fantastic weekend of shopping with retail promotions, a craft, food and floral market, street entertainment, carol singing and Ice Rink will not want to be missed. The ice rink will be located at Townspark, with the entrance beside Victoria Hall.

A flyer detailing all the events will be distributed to 12,500 households in Leitrim over the coming days.

Deirdre O’Connell (Lena’s Tearooms) Chairperson of the Committee thanked the Chamber and Leitrim County Enterprise Board for sponsoring the flyer and it’s distribution to households in the county.

Gerard Faughnan, Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce said that they were delighted to be associated with the initiative and he was really looking forward to skating on the ice rink.

He encouraged all to “Be, Buy, Enjoy Local this Christmas in Carrick-on-Shannon.”
