Charity Shop:
The next Charity Shop in Mohill will be run in the Canon Donohoe Hall on Friday July 26th from 10am to 3pm. Proceeds in aid of the Mohill Family Support Centre.

Meet and Train Bootcamps for Females:
Leitrim Sports Partnership is delighted to continue the women “Meet and Train Bootcamps for Females” program. Due to the success of last year’s programme, Mohill’s Bootcamp will continue on Wednesday July 17th at 7:30pm. The cost of this will be €20 for six weeks. Ruby Wedding Anniversary:
Our warmest congratulations to Seamus and Teresa Duignan (Monaghan), Cloonturk who celebrated their ruby wedding anniversary with a surprise party in the Copper Still, Dromod. It was a wonderful night with delicious food, good music, singing, dancing and a great night’s entertainment was enjoyed by all. We all wish Seamus and Teresa continued good health to enjoy many more happy years together with their family, neighbours and friends. Deo gratias.

Birthday Greetings:
I wish to add my congratulations to the many received by Bridget Howard, Cloonturk who celebrated her 96th birthday on July 3rd 2013 and to let her know she is fondly remembered by yours truly and the many friends she has met down through the years. “No age is old when you reach it”. 
Our congrats also go to Aoife McIntyre, Emma Blackburn, Gerard Reilly, Martina and Sarah Beirne and Bridie Brady who have celebrated their birthdays around this time. Wishing them many happy returns, good health and happiness for many years to come.

Writing Workshop:
A children’s writing workshop with Gerry Boland, an poet and author and who writes for adults and for the younger reader. Gerry is hosting four writing workshops in Carrick-on-Shannon Library for the weekends - Friday August 2nd and Saturday August 3rd and Friday August 9th and Saturday August 10th for children from 10 to 13 years and from 11:30am to 1pm. Coffee Morning:
The place to visit next Friday morning July 19th from 10am to 12 noon is “Knitted Treasure”, Glebe St who are hosting a Coffee Morning with all the proceeds going to the North West Simon Community. Sue is kindly donating 10% of all sales at Knitted Treasure on Friday morning to the Simon Community so please pop along and have a look. Enjoy a cuppa and some delicious home baking. Your help will be appreciated.

Social Dancing:
Come and dance the night away in J’s Hotel, Main Street this Thursday night July 18th to the music of “Showbud”. Doors open 9:30pm. Door raffle. Licenced bar. Refreshments served. Here you can relax and enjoy the craic. All are welcome.

Holiday Time:
It was nice to welcome home Alan and Sheeya Craig with their children Ciala and Cian Craig who are holidaying wtih their parents Billy and Lily Reed. Also home enjoying our glorious weather are Peter Gordon, P. Conboy, PJ and Ita Gray, M. Gallagher, J. Shanley, Pat and Brid Canavan, Rita Berry, J. Britton, Mr and Mrs Gerard Higgins and family, B. Ingerfield, the Moran family and many more too numerous to mention. We extend a cead mile failte to all our visitors. Come and enjoy Mohill’s hospitality.

Thomas Kelly:
There was deep regret on hearing of the death of Thomas Kelly, late of Ohill whose Requiem Mass was here in St. Patrick’s Church, Mohill last Saturday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Sonny as he was most affectionately known was a very kind gentleman whose family and friends mourn his passing and to whom we offer our deepest sympathy. “He is gone no further from us than to God”. May his dear soul Rest in Peace.

An Orienteering Evening League will take place in Derrycarne Woods, Annaduff on Wednesday July 17th. This league will suit beginners, walkers, families and buggies. No knowledge of the sport is needed to take apart. Free tution will be given to new beginners. Two courses are available for beginners and seniors. Open registration from 6pm to 7:15. Fee entry only €5. Come with your family or friends and enjoy a lovely walk in the woods while learning a new skill and being active.

Down Syndrome:
Bornacoola Youth Club are making a collection of old mobile phones for Down Syndrome. They are hoping to collect one hundred and fifty old phones and by reaching this target, a child in our parish will get an iPad so if you have any, please hand them into a summer camp or to any club leader. Family Fun Day:
This year’s Family Fun Day on July 7th out at Lough Rynn was a wonderful success. Thanks to Garda Mick Heffernan for organising the attendance of the Garda Pipe Band who entertained the large attendance, an estimated 800 people. The children had a ball with face painting, boating, donkey and cart rides etc. Peter and Hugh cooked and dished out the pig on a spit while Valerie manned the barbecue. 
The event was hosted by volunteers from the Rinn-Shannon and District Angling Club which initially started out for the Chernobyl children who were visiting the locality and who were here again this year. €500 was collected for Temple Street Hospital. A big thank you to the RSDAC and the Order of Malta. Not forgetting all the volunteers and sponsors who helped make the day a success.

Show News:
Schedules for Mohill’s 86th Annual Show Day on Sunday August 18th are now available at Mohill Show Office (071-96-31007/086-8710215) outlining the great variety of exhibit classes in all sections including a special range of classes for the Junior Show enthusiast. Have you heard that the Committee have decided to host the Show Dance on Saturday following the Show, August 24th in J’s Hotel with the up and coming band, “Unstable” providing the entertainment? Mohill GAA Lotto:
The numbers drawn on July 8th were 4, 7, 12, 30. There was no jackpot winner. Lucky Dip winners were 1st €70 G. Brady/AJ Hoare, Kilmore, Co. Roscommon, 2nd €40 C. Fitzpatrick, Mohill, 3rd €20 Shane Beirne, Mohill. The draw on Monday July 15th was held in Gordon’s with the jackpot at €13,800. Thanking you for your support. Sympathies of the club were expressed on the death of Olivia Beirne, Dublin who was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Beirne, formerly from Lisdadnan, Mohill and now living in Dublin. May God comfort them and all who mourn Olivia and may her dear soul Rest in Peace. “Go raibh leaba aigi imeasc na naomh”.

St Bridget’s Church of Ireland Kiltubrid: 
To mark the 5th Anniversary of its re-opening a service is been held in the church at 7.30 on Friday evening July 19th. It is also to say farewell to Canon Bill Atkins who is departing to take up a new post in Northern Ireland. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served.

Mohill Honda 50 Run: 
The 4rd Annual Mohill Honda 50 Run will take place on Sunday 25th August 2013 in Mohill. Registration of bikes will take place in the Canon Donohoe Hall from 11am to 12 noon.The ussual Cead Mile Failte for the bikers will be provided before The Run will kick off at 12.15 for a 50 mile round trip.Food and Refreshments will be served after at the Canon Donohoe Hall on return. There will be bikersprizes and a raffle with lovely prizes. All proceed will go to the annual Mohill Senior Citizen Christmas Party, the yearly social event for our senior citizens and to Mohill Resources Ltd. towards the upkeep of the Canon Donohoe Hall. The Canon Donohoe Hall is the epicenter of all community events, creche, clubs, bingo nights etc. etc. and houses the Mohill Family Support Centre which provides a very valuable service to the Community of Mohill and surrounding area’s. We hope the support for the Honda 50 Run will be as good as in previous years.
