SONGS OF FAITH: Choir of Ireland featuring St Eugene Adult Choir, St Eugene Handbell and Violinist Mary Stryck will be performing in Boyle Abbey on Tuesday 25th June at 10am. Admission free.

WINDOW DISPLAY COMPETITION: Window displays can transform a whole street and the best displays can lift people’s spirits when they walk past. With this vision of transformation in mind, the Boyle Arts Festival Committee proposes to run a window display competition in Boyle as part of the annual Boyle Arts Festival 2013. 
The competition will be free to enter and entry is open to all individuals, shop owners or groups. The theme for this year is “Celtic Waves”. There will be a prize of €250 for first and €150 for second awarded to the best window displays that incorporate the competition theme as adjudicated by our guest judge. So why not enter and help brighten up the windows of Boyle for the duration of the Arts Festival 25th July- 3rd August 2013. Last year’s winner was Marian’s on Bridge Street.

ART SUBMISSION EXHIBITION: With the long summer evenings now upon us, it can only mean that Boyle Arts Festival 2013 is only weeks away! The Festival will open this year on July 25th and run until August 3rd and a very exciting, eclectic programme of events has just been finalised, ahead of the official launch, later this month. 
In the meantime there are a few interactive items that may be of interest to you…With the aim to provide a forum for artists who may find few opportunities to display their work, Boyle Arts Festival Open Submission Exhibition has grown from a base of talent to attract entries from all over Ireland, with the West being particularly strongly represented. 
The work is selected on merit and entries have been selected from part-time, full-time and occasional artists, giving a unique blend and standard of excellence. Entrants are judged for three overall prizes, as well as a prize for ‘The Most Promising Artist under 25. This year the overall winner will be presented with the Sue Hill Perpetual Trophy. Handing In: Works should be brought to Church of Ireland School, Boyle, (On the same road as the Garda Station and opposite the Family Life Centre) on Friday. June 28th and Saturday June 29th from 4pm to 6pm. All work should be original and never previously exhibited in Boyle. ENTRY FEE €9 per piece of work (€6 per work concessions) Maximum 3 entries per person (entry fee non-refundable)

BOYLE FARMERS MARKET: The market will be displaying signs throughout the week with all special offers that you can avail of. 
The weekly market offers you the opportunity to talk first hand with the local growers and producers that provide fresh, locally grown produce, including organic seasonal vegetables, organic meat and poultry, home bakes, fruit juices, jams, sauces, organic eggs, gluten and wheat free breads and fresh fish, the market also provides organic chemical free Aloe Vera based products and hand painted, hand lettered wooden wall hangings and decorative plaques, window boxes and hanging baskets, fresh strawberries to name but a few.

BOYLE GOLF CLUB: On Sunday June 9th saw the Bartley Moran Trophy which was won by Mick Moran with a score of 63, 2nd Ted Hestor, Gross Patrick Egan, and 3rd Paddy McLoughlin 64. Category prizes were won by Charlie O’Donnell, Jim Suffin and Gerry Carty. Sean Heslin won the birdie tree. Thursday June 6th the night Mens Competition was won by Fred Perry 26pts, 2nd Jonathan Egan 25pts, 3rd Willie Tiernan 25pts. Friday June 7th saw the Scramble won by Gareth Gilmartin, Lionel Lynn and Marcus Casserly, 2nd Gary Carty, Teresa Ward & Michael Reid, 3rd Patrick Egan, Maura O’Farrell and Willie Tiernan. 
Date for your diary is the Presidents Prize on Sunday June 30th. Golf lessons continue on Saturday mornings at 11.00am for Boys and Girls. Please call Myra Egan on 086 8561561 if interested. Lessons for beginner’s ladies and gents are on Tuesday evening 6.30 approx. There was a large turnout for the Presentation of prizes and Club draw last Sunday evening. 
The winners of the birdie tree from the June weekend was Gary Carty, second prize went to Gareth Gilmartin. June draw winners were Vincent & Moira Egan €90, Mary and Denis O’Donnell and Ted Hestor won runners up prizes of €45. Thanks to all who took part, next draw Sunday July 14th. Thanks again to all who are volunteering to help the club. 
Recent improvements include clearing of the trees between the first and ninth holes, cleaning of the drain on the eighth, painting of markers and tidyng of the bank beside the fourth tee box.
