Cllr Bohan said that there is “quite an amount of traffic on the road and it's causing a problem.”
Cllr Mary Bohan proposed that the council consider the possibility of providing traffic calming/safety measures at the entrance to the Greenway opposite St. Felim’s Nursing Home in Dromahair.
A report at the Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting by the Council's Roads office said that this location will be assessed and considered for inclusion in the list of low cost safety schemes applied for funding annually to the department.
Cllr Bohan said that locals did a lot of voluntary work with the council in “securing that section of the greenway and it's used extensively by walkers and it's also of tremendous value to the St Felim's Nursing Home where residents are brought out for a walk; people with dementia and other ailments of that nature.”
She continued that there is “quite an amount of traffic on the road and it's causing a problem.”
In the meantime, while awaiting funding, Cllr Bohan said, “I've asked them to look at any temporary measures that they can take.”
