Complaints about narrow bridge at Cornalaughta

Warning signage on both approaches to the bridge to be considered

Cllr Frank Dolan said he has received numerous complaints about the narrow bridge at Cornalaughta on the R278 and "it is seen as being very dangerous as two vehicles can barely pass each other on it. In the interest of safety, he asked that the engineers examine this."

A report by the Roads Office said this will be reviewed and if required they will make an application under the low cost safety scheme for funding to upgrade approach warning signage on both approaches to the bridge including barrier boards.

Cllr Dolan said the increased volume of traffic on the road "and speed that is on that road has brought this to light; the bridge is narrow and on a slight bend and anyone coming from the Manorhamilton side, the white line does not leave the width of a vehicle on the left-hand side."
