Sinn Féin councillor Pádraig Fallon was elected Cathaoirleach of the Manorhamilton Municipal District at Monday morning’s meeting.
He was proposed for the role by outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr Mary Bohan and seconded by Cllr Felim Gurn.
This is the Drumkeeran man’s first time serving as Cathaoirleach. He said he was looking forward to the year ahead.
“This is obviously something new for me, and I look forward to working with everyone in the spirit that we’ve all worked together over the last number of years, particularly throughout this term.

“I acknowledge the greater work done by everyone, and I also acknowledge our failures when we fail.”
Cllr Justin Warnock was then elected Leas-Cathaoirleach, having been proposed by Cllr James Gilmartin and seconded by Cllr Mary Bohan.
Cllr Warnock congratulated Cllr Fallon on his appointment, which he will hold for the next 12 months.
“I’m delighted after these number of years that you’re chair,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation for the work of outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr Bohan.
“We work well together here and it’s good for our Municipal District,” he added.
