Castle Street, Manorhamilton
Uisce Éireann will be contacted by the Manorhamilton Municipal District and asked to address the ongoing issue of blocked waste on Castle Street in Manorhamilton, which has persisted for a number of years.
Cllr Pádraig Fallon proposed the motion at July’s meeting of the MD, requesting that the MD contact Uisce Éireann to seek a resolution to the recurring problem of waste blockages and backups on Castle Street.
Cllr Fallon stated he has made numerous representations to Uisce Éireann over the past two to three years, particularly regarding the waste backing up on Castle Street.
“It impacts a number of homes and it’s a health risk. At one stage it came quite close to coming out onto the road, it was at that level,” Cllr Fallon said.

He emphasised that more action is required, expressing frustration that attempts to engage Uisce Éireann on the issue have not yielded progress.
He suggested that the waste pipe may need to be removed but stressed that it certainly needs to be surveyed with a camera.
“When I enquire, I can’t get confirmation that that has been done or it is going to be done so that’s why I brought it to the Municipal as well as contacting them,” he added.
It was agreed that Uisce Éireann would be contacted to seek a resolution to the waste issue.
