The HSE is preparing to fast-track the disposal of several properties across the country, some of which could potentially be transformed into residential homes with the assistance of grant schemes such as the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, also known as Croí Cónaithe.

Eight properties located across six counties are scheduled to go under the hammer with auctioneers O’Donnellan & Joyce on Friday, September 19.

Two of the properties are in Leitrim, both situated in Manorhamilton. One is the Bank House on Boley Hill, with a guide price of €45,000, while the other is The Manse on New Line, Manorhamilton, offered at €25,000, making it the least expensive of the properties being auctioned.

Bank House is a detached two-storey building set on a substantial site of approximately 0.32 acres. According to O’Donnellan & Joyce, the property requires full restoration but holds “huge potential” to be redeveloped into a large family residence.

The Manse is a detached, traditional-style two-storey residence located on an elevated site of about 0.7 acres. The auctioneers have stated that it requires complete renovation and presents opportunities for redevelopment, subject to planning approval.

Other properties being put up for auction are located in Cavan, Sligo, Donegal, Mayo, and Galway.

The most valuable of these is a three-storey building on Main Street, Loughrea, Co. Galway, carrying a guide price of €280,000.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) is also placing three former Garda stations on the market, two in Mayo and one in Galway.

On Friday, September 19, Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce will host a national livestream auction online at 12pm, featuring the HSE buildings along with 14 additional properties.

Those wishing to participate must pay a €5,000 bidder security fee in advance, which will be refunded if unsuccessful.
