Leitrim residents have the opportunity this winter to learn how best to keep safe during the dark and long evenings over the coming months, covering everything from storm readiness to home security.

Three events titled ‘Stay Safe, Stay Well This Winter’ are taking place across the county in Manorhamilton, Ballinamore and Mohill, and are aimed at older and vulnerable persons.

The first event will be held in Manorhamilton on November 27 from 11am to 12pm at the Bee Park, featuring an information session with Leitrim Fire Service, An Garda Síochána and Leitrim County Council.

All events are free to attend, with registration available online. Manorhamilton registration: bit.ly/SafeManor.

Topics at all events will include a presentation from the Gardaí on staying safe in your home; safety advice from Leitrim Fire Service on fire prevention while keeping warm during the colder months; and guidance on how to be prepared in the event of a storm or to have what you need in your home for the first 72 hours.

There will be spot prizes and refreshments served on the day. Registration for the events is required as spaces are limited.
