All set for Manorhamilton parade
After a two year break due to the Covid-19 shutdowns, the eagerly awaited annual Manorhamilton St. Patrick's Day Parade is back with a bang this Thursday when large crowds are expected to throng the North Leitrim town for the parade itself and for the many other post parade events that will happen afterwards.
Heralding the return of the popular Manor event, it's chief organiser, Gerry Creamer said recently the “St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place on Thursday, 17 March at 5pm with the assembly for it taking place at the Fire Station.”
He also added the parade will have “a theme of recovery” and he explained that all organising floats for it are “welcome to contact” himself, Gerry Creamer as soon as possible, phone 0863855090.
“It takes more than people with commitment to run a parade – there's insurance – the bands, etc., and these all cost money. So we are looking for your help. Your business will have received an email or a visit from a Committee member asking you to participate or donate.
“Any help – either financial or by joining the parade – will be amazing. Think of all the free publicity your business will get when everyone sees your float on the day. If you've no float then get on yer bike and strap a sign to the handle bars – simple,” is the popular Gerry's advice to all in Manor's business community.
Mr. Creamer also exhorts everyone to “come on and join the fun. Call Gerry and he will organise to collect your donation.”
This year's and Thursday's Manor event has been renamed “The 2022 St. Patrick's Day Pedal Power Parade – Cycle and Recycle.”
Meanwhile, in line with this theme, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, which takes place between 5pm and 7pm, will have float prizes for the most creative 'Cycle Recycle' entry, the funniest 'Cycle Recycle' entry, the best community or group 'Cycle Recycle entry, and in the shop's section the best 'Cycle Recycle' shop window entry.
