Leitrim primary school seeks expansion to enhance special educational support

The Board of Management of Annaduff National School has submitted a planning application to Leitrim County Council for a proposed extension and enhancement of special educational needs (SEN) facilities.

The proposed development includes the construction of a single-storey extension, incorporating two SEN classrooms, a central activities space and all associated ancillary educational spaces and circulation areas.

Additionally, the proposal involves the demolition of the existing standalone learning support room and ancillary sheds, along with the relocation of a hard-surface play area.

The development also includes the provision of a bus drop off area, pedestrian footpaths and all associated ancillary site works, as well as connections to services.

Planning sought for 100-acre solar farm near Leitrim town

An application has been lodged with Roscommon County Council for the development of a 100-acre solar farm located in Meera and Tullyleague townlands, beside Carrick-on-Shannon.

Annaduff NS, which accommodates approximately 200 students, underwent an extension in 2015 and 2017.

In addition to these expansions, the school has benefited from various upgrades, including the installation of an astroturf pitch and playground.

The school introduced its first SEN class in 2020, followed by a second in 2022.

A decision on the proposed extension and facility upgrades is expected by March 31.
