Planning permission has been granted which will further the development of a new Centre for Further Education and Training in Mohill.

An application submitted on September 10 sought approval for the partial demolition, renovation and extension (282m²) of the existing building in Coolabaun to create a new Mohill Centre for Further Education and Training (FET).

The application also proposed alterations to the site vehicle entrance, changes to the parking area to create 22 parking spaces, and the inclusion of signage and associated site works.

The existing building was the old vocational school in Mohill, which is set to be redeveloped as the new FET campus.

In October 2022, Simon Harris TD announced significant funding of €1.5 million for the FET centre in Mohill.

The new facility, when built, will form part of the fully integrated Leitrim College FET Campus infrastructure and will assist in the continued growth of education and training in Leitrim.

There are 12 conditions attached to the planning permission at the site. These include that a minimum of 10 percent of the proposed car parking spaces shall be provided with electrical connection points to allow for functional electric vehicle charging.

Site development and building works shall be carried out between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and between 8:00am and 2:00pm on Saturdays.
