Some bus stops in Leitrim not large enough to accommodate those who used them
A number of Leitrim residents have spoken about a "tiny bus stop" in a Carrick-on-Shannon "in comparison to the use it gets and then you look across the road and there is a bus stop three times the size and it gets half the use. Then you go to other areas and see fairly good bus stops and nobody ever at them."
Cllr Cormac Flynn had asked that the Leitrim County Council review "the sites and styles of bus stops and shelters across the area on foot of representations from individuals in Mohill (Knocklongford) and Carrick (Coffee's Bus Stop)".
He continued: "The one in Knocklongford doesn't even have a sign at it and it's down to local knowledge as to where the bus actually stops."
He said if the motion was carried, he would ask that future decisions be based on a data driven formula in order to qualify the decision making process.

He said: "Maybe prioritise some of the bus stops that get a lot of use but don't have a shelter or bus pull-in. We all agree that Local Link is providing a massive service so it would be good to have proper data in relation to where we decide to put bus stands, bus stops and bus shelters."
The response stated that Active Travel, in conjunction with Local Link and the NTA, considers usage data in combination with existing bus stop infrastructure to help prioritise works and determine any appropriate interventions that may be required.
It stated that Active Travel has been made aware (through Local Link) of potential interventions at Knocklongford, Mohill, and at “Coffey's Corner” in Carrick-on-Shannon and the existing facilities at both locations will be reviewed as part of future work programmes.
